PT Organics fruit pouches recalled over possible soft strands of plastic in purée

More than 380,000 fruit pouches are being recalled nationwide over concerns that they may contain soft strands of plastic in the purée. PT Organics said in a statement last week that it traced the issue to an internal packaging defect that could cause thin strands of food-grade plastic from the lining of the pouch to end up in the product when it is squeezed. The affected products, Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry 4-ounce (113-gram) pouches, were sold exclusively at Kroger, Meijer and Target stores nationwide from March 6 to July 13. PT Organics urges customers with the recalled product to immediately dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase. No injuries have been reported.
