Who says patriotism is dead in this country?
America's 250th birthday has had plenty of moments where citizens have shown their country some love, but on Sunday afternoon, one patriot got a little too physical.
Before the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins game, as the Jersey Girls were belting out a performance of "The Star Spangled Banner," fans rose to their feet, as is customary during the singing of our national anthem.

As nearly everyone in attendance stood up and removed whatever headgear they were wearing, one fan remained seated, which didn't sit well with the man sitting directly behind him who decided to take matters into his own hands.
"Stand up," you can hear the older fan say to the younger one before he leans in and says something inaudible.
Then, he hauls off and smacks the kid right across the back of the head.

That must have worked, because the younger fan stood at attention for the rest of the performance.
And the older fan, to his credit, could be heard thanking the young man after he stands up (after telling him to "shut up," of course).
Now, look, I don't condone violence, but this is an all-timer of a video.

It doesn't even look like this is the first time our elder Cubs fan has pulled a move like this, either.
Or, at the very least, he's considered doing it and this is the first time he let his intrusive thoughts win out.
It seemed to be a fairly popular move, judging by the reactions in the comments section.
No one in the stadium seemed to be too opposed to the move either, other than the guy in the aviators who gave a half-hearted shrug and a few words when he saw the smack go down.

It remains to be seen whether charges will be pressed, and if the kid wanted to he might be able to milk some legal action out of this.
But for now, it seems like all that will come of this is a hilarious viral moment fitting for America 250.
The smackings will continue until morale improves.
